Essential oils for plantar fasciitis


Around 10 % of the adult population suffers from the heel pain known as plantar fasciitis. It is caused by inflammation of the thick fascia tissues present in our heels. Plantar fasciitis is a type of injury caused during the exercise or during any physical work out with poor form. Experts believe that the causes of plantar fasciitis are overtraining, older age, excessive foot pronation, obesity and poor form while doing workouts. It is noticed that middle-aged people and those persons who spent lots of time on their feet or exercising are mostly affected by plantar Fasciitis.


Essential oils have been used for thousands of years for their therapeutic and healing properties. They are produced from the leaves, stems or roots of medicinal plants. So today in this article we are going to discuss about the different essential oils which are very useful to get relief from plantar fasciitis.


Essential oils used to treat plantar fasciitis:


Frankincense Essential oil:



Frankincense oil is used by either inhaling the oil or absorbing it through the skin. It transmits messages to the limbic system of the brain to influence the nervous system. It balances the hormone levels in the body, increases the digestion, improves our immune system and also kills the harmful germs and bacteria. Frankincense oil should not be taken in large amount because it can be toxic.

How to use:

  • Put 2-3 drops of frankincense on the pain point in the morning

  • Rub it gently for 4-5min.

  • Wear the socks and shoes

  • Repeat this process for 30-40days for better result.

Peppermint oil




It is the most versatile essential oil in the world. Peppermint essential oil gives a cooling sensation and has a calming effect on the body. This oil is one of the oldest European herbs used for medicinal purposes.it reduces stomach aches, freshens the bad breath, improves the mental focus and also helps in digestion.

How to use:

  • Take peppermint oil and mix it with lavender oil.

  • Apply this mixer on the pain point.

  • Rub it for 5-10mins.

  • Now wear the socks and leave it for 5-6hours.

Ginger Essential Oil:



Ginger is another essential oil, which is used for thousands of years as pain relief. It can be mixed into vegetable juice or eaten fresh or dried. This oil is also used to relieve aches and improve the blood circulation of the body. Ginger Essential Oil can be used as a massage oil to relieve backache, arthritis and muscle pain.

How to use:

  • Put 3-4 drops of ginger Essential oil on the pain point

  • Rub it with fingers for 2mins.

  • Gentally massage for 8-10mins

  • Repeat this process for relief.
